Grade Register - Draft
The St James Judo Association (SJJA) maintains this register as the official record of our technical lineage.
- Historical Witness: All grades recorded here have been witnessed and ratified by Jim Byrne and/or senior members of the St James Judo Club alumni.
- Sovereign Recognition: These grades represent the SJJA’s formal recognition of a student's mastery of the traditional Judo syllabus.
- Reciprocity: We operate as an independent traditional body. As such, the SJJA is under no obligation to recognize grades issued by other sporting organizations, nor do we expect external bodies to be obligated to recognize ours.
- Integrity of the Art: Our priority is the preservation of the "Original 40" Gokyo techniques; our grading standards are set solely to ensure that this specific heritage remains unbroken.
