Membership and Waiver - Draft

The Mission: St James Judo Club is a non-profit study group dedicated to the memory of Jim Byrne. We practice traditional Judo techniques for the love of the art and to support Children with Cancer UK via our JustGiving page.

Student Declaration:

  1. Nature of the Sport: I understand that Judo is a high-contact martial art involving throws, pins, and physical exertion. I acknowledge there is an inherent risk of injury.
  2. Voluntary Participation: I am participating of my own free will. I confirm I am physically fit to practice and have disclosed any medical conditions to the Lead Coach.
  3. The "Jim Byrne" Ethos: I agree to practice with Jita Kyoei     (Mutual Welfare and Benefit). I will prioritize the safety of my partner at all times.
  4. Charitable Contribution: I understand that there are no "membership fees" for profit. Instead, I am encouraged to make a donation to the Association’s nominated charity via the JustGiving link provided.
  5. Liability:  I agree that 55 Spears Ltd (trading as St James Judo Association) and its instructors are not liable for injuries sustained during normal practice, provided safety protocols were followed.
